Strict actions were imposed from May 16, by the state to fight against covid-19.

Stricter actions were taken against the people who were moving out without masks and not following the covid-19. Total fine of Rs 11.59 lakhs was collected from people in these four days, wherein 123 people were arrested for violating covid-19 regulations.

Ranchi, Bokaro, Saraikela and Palamu districts saw collections over 1 lakh each as fine from people that were not wearing masks, which was made mandatory at public places. The police informed that – Rs 2.91 lakhs was received from those who did not wear masks in public places, while the other people were fined for violating other regulations such as driving vehicles without e-pass and gathering more people than permitted.

The state capped the number of attendees of a wedding to 11, lowering it from 50 with a provision that the wedding should either be conducted at home or at courts, watching all the safety measures against covid. Also the Jharkhand Government had made a seven-days compulsory quarantine for people visiting the state.

The total number of Covid-19 fatalities in the state is 4,654, while 1,894 new positive cases pushed the total number to 3,22,828. The mortality rate in the state remained higher at 1.44 per cent as against the nation’s 1.10 per cent.
