Archery Trials: Jharkhand’s Komalika Bari Aims for a Spot in the Olympic Team

World Youth Archery Champion Komalika Bari has once again made to the Olympic probable list by finishing second in the selection trials held for the Tokyo Olympics. A selection trial was organized at JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur under the aegis of Tata Steel and Archery Association of India.

In the three-day trial, 36 male and 13 female archers participated in which four from the men’s category and four in the women’s category were selected. Selected players will join the ongoing Tokyo Olympic camp in Pune, where 16 players are already undergoing training.

Komalika Bari who hails from Jharkhand finished second and has raised hopes of a place in the Olympic team. Sangeeta Kumari of Haryana is on top while Ishita of All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB) finished third. In the men’s trial, Jharkhand’s hope of sending another player to the Olympics ended on the second day, when Shrey Bhardwaj could not make it to the last eight. Yashdeep Bhoga of Maharashtra finished first, Sukhchain Singh of SSCB finished second and Amit Kumar of Madhya Pradesh finished third. The Tokyo Olympics was scheduled to be held in 2020 but it was postponed by another year due to the COVID-19.
