Jharkhand High Court has sought a detailed report from the jail administration while hearing a matter on jail manual violation by former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janta Dal Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. The hearing was held in the court of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) told the court that an FIR has also been lodged against Lalu Yadav for violation of the jail manual, on which the court said that this is a separate matter and it will not interfere in it. At the same time, the court sought information regarding appointing an attendant and explain under what provisions an attendant is provided to a prisoner. The Court also ordered to submit a detailed report from the authorities on the decision to shift RJD supremo Lalu Prasad from the paying ward of RIMS to the Director’s bungalow and again from the bungalow back to the paying ward.
Additional Advocate General Ashutosh Anand, appearing for the government, requested time for filing the answer. In the last hearing, the High Court had asked RIMS to give Lalu Prasad’s medical report and the jail administration to give a list of people he had met in the last three months. The Court had also issued a show-cause notice to the Inspector General of Prisons and the Superintendent of Birsa Munda Central Jail if timely information was not provided. The government informed the court that SOP has been made for those meeting the prisoners.
The court has directed the government to present the detailed report in the court by December 18.
