Jharkhand Government has augmented surveillance on the visitors from other states which has direct flight to Ranchi after the increase in COVID-19 cases. Ranchi is the only district to have direct connectivity with almost all big cities where the cases of COVID-19 are alarmingly high. This is one of the reasons why the Health machinery of Jharkhand is currently focusing on COVID-19 trend in Ranchi.
According to Ranchi Civil Surgeon, Dr VB Prasad, tests are being conducted at airport and railway station for passengers coming from states having more number5 of Covid-19 cases.
As per the figures provided by National Health Mission (NHM), 261 out of 447 Covid patients were from Ranchi.
While the cases were were decreasing in the first week of February, but the sudden hike in cases has become a matter of concern. As per Government data, the number of active cases were less than 200 on February 6 but there has been a sudden hike in the cases resulting in 60 news cases in just 18 days.
In order to provide better service to the people suffering from Covid, 17 new covid testing centres were set up across the district so that atleast 1000 people get tested everyday. As per health officials, Ranchi may witness spike in the cases because of increased number of testing.
