Tired of lockdown, 12-years old run away to visit Kolkata Zoo..

Jharkhand Updates

A 12-years old boy was rescued on Friday by the cops of the Bhowanipore traffic guard while he was trying to scale the walls of the Alipore zoo. Upon enquiring, the cops – Amit Kumar Shaw, Swastik Chakraborty, and Sanjeet Kumar Mallik realized that the boy had run away from home.

After cross-examination, the cops called his parents in Pakur, Jharkhand, and asked them to come over and take their child away. This is the second time in two weeks that the cops have rescued a teenager – residing outside Bengal near Maidan zoo belt after they ran away from their home just to visit these places. According to an officer, there were cops in and around the zoo as the preparations were on for the Left-Congress brigade rally. There are paying extra attention after the theft of three rare birds from the zoo. When they saw the child amidst all the hysteria, he confessed that he ran away from home as he was tired of staying at home during Lockdown.

“We are also trying to speak to the bus driver and conductor who brought him here. We have to make sure that they play an important role in stopping these types of incidents as there is a risk of getting these children abducted mid-way,” an officer said. “If needed, we will hold classes for long-distance bus drivers,” he added.

As per protocol, the Bhowanipore traffic guard officers dropped him at the Alipore police station where the officers arranged for a shelter home for the minor. The child will soon reunite with his family.
