Preparations On For Monsoon Session On Jharkhand Legislative Assembly; All MLAs To Get Tested For Covid-19 At Least 72 Before.

Jharkhand Assembly Secretary Mahendra Prasad held a meeting with senior officers of the Assembly Secretariat on Tuesday for discussions on monsoon session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, which starts on September 18. There was deep brainstorming on the preparations to be done for the session. Special focus was on preparations to prevent corona infection. State cabinet members and legislators are expected to get themselves tested for Covid-19 at least 72 hours before the commencement of the session.

Media persons and crew have also been asked to get themselves tested for Covid-19 at least 72 hours before the session. The entry of outsiders into the assembly premises will be prohibited during the session. If any assembly members get infected with coronavirus or are suspected of infection, then they could not participate in the proceedings of the assembly, rather in light of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly Business Rules, they can authorize any other member to perform their legislative responsibilities such as ask questions, etc., and for this, they would need to inform the Secretariat 24 hours in advance. Similarly, officials or staff in the Secretariat should also get themselves tested for Covid-19 at least 72 hours before the session.

In the meeting, it was decided that letters would be sent and correspondence will be made by the Secretariat with the Secretary of the Government and various departments to ensure the use of masks, face shields, testing for Covid-19 of state government officials and personnel, policemen, magistrates, who will be in deputation at the assembly during the monsoon session. Sanitizers will be provided at the entrance of the assembly. Face cover, mask, face shield, hand gloves will be provided and must be used compulsorily when entering the Secretariat. The seating arrangements of the members during the monsoon session is being done with social distancing ensured. It was also decided to keep the general audience gallery closed during the monsoon session.
