The patience of the assistant police personnel agitating at Morabadi Maidan in Ranchi over their demand for permanent positing broke down on Friday. They were angered by the barricading being done around the ground, and in the ensuing clash, several police personnel and assistant police personnel were injured. Several barricading were uprooted during the scuffle. The police had to resort to lathi-charge to bring the situation under control. Tear gas shells were also shot while stone pelting was done from both sides. According to information received, more than two dozen policemen are injured. Ranchi district administration personal and Senior Superintendent of Police Surendra Jha reached the spot.
The assistant policemen were going towards the Chief Minister’s residence to get their demand and queries answered. As soon as they left Morabadi Maidan, policemen came and started the lathi charge. The assistant police personnel have been agitating for the last one week demanding for permanent posting. More than two dozen assistant policemen were injured in the incidents of stone-pelting from both sides. The injured were taken to RIMS on ambulances and other police vehicles.
