Mystery shrouds over the suspicious death of BJP leader’s daughter, found hanging from a low height branch of a tree in Laal Mati Forest under Panki police station area on Wednesday. The deceased was a class X student studying in a local government school, said police.
Palamu SP Sanjeev Kumar said, “The deceased had some injuries on her neck and in her right eye. She had no other marks of injury on her body.” Her dupatta was used to hang her and her legs were touching the ground turning police suspicious about her death mystery.
Her father, Shiv Narayan Prajapati is said to be a local BJP leader even though police hasn’t confirmed this officially. The police has detained the boyfriend of deceased. The deceased girl hailed from a potter caste family. Sources say that this could be a case of honour killing as well but haven’t added anything to it.
The SP added, “The girl had been missing since Sunday and her family members reached Panki police station only on Monday in the evening to file a complaint”. About deceased girl’s father’s BJP links, “People around him are saying so but he hasn’t told anything as such to us. We are looking into the role of her boyfriend and further probe is going on,” SP said.
Officer in Charge of the Panki police station Ashok Kumar opined the girl to have been killed somewhere else and to pass it off as a case of death by hanging was brought to Lal Mati Forest where she was hooked by her dupatta to a branch of the tree. “Her clothes had no sign of resistance,” he said, adding that the police had registered a case of murder.
Moreover, State BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo , questioned the law and order situation in the state and the attack on BJP leader’s family. “Party will launch an agitation if culprits are not held soon,” he tweeted.
