Former CBI SP NMP Sinha had demanded a bribe of Rs 50 lakh to benefit Ranchi based Usha Martin company. Sinha had been arrested a day ago in Delhi taking a bribe of Rs 25 lakh. In this case, CBI also raided the residence and offices of people associated with Sinha in Tatisilway, Ranchi. Former SP NMP Sinha retired in August this year. Another person has also been caught along with him. Both the accused are in CBI remand till October 9. The CBI has lodged the FIR against six accused including its former SP NMP Sinha. Sinha has been accused of asking for Rs 50 lakh through a chartered accountant in order to help the company involved in research in a case related to iron ore mining. Former SP NMP Sinha was arrested while getting Rs 25 lakh as the first installment.
25 lakh rupees taken from the company as bribe have been recovered from his residence. Based on information received, CBI raided eight locations in the country including Delhi and Ranchi. Many documents have been discovered by CBI in the raids, which are under investigation. Former SP NMP Sinha has also been the Officer on Special Duty of Rakesh Asthana, former Special Director of CBI. Asthana has been made the DG of BSF only last month. NMP Sinha had also been a supervising officer in the case of Bihar’s much talked about fodder scam. The fodder scam is being investigated by the CBI’s Economic Offenses Wing in Ranchi.
