11 Cyber Criminals Arrested In Deoghar; Used To Access People’s Accounts By Getting Only 4 Digits Of Mobile Number.

Cyber criminals are employing new tricks everyday. As the police prepare themselves to stop cybercrime, the cybercriminals of Jharkhand seem to be ahead of them and are finding new ways to rob people of their hard earned money from their bank accounts. 11 cyber criminals were arrested from Deoghar district on Monday. Deoghar SP Ashwini Kumar Sinha informed that 31 mobile phones, 49 SIM cards, 4 passbooks, 11 ATM cards, 3 bikes and Rs 64,800 cash were recovered from them.

The gang of 11 revealed that they have been using four digits of mobile number to access accounts. The SP said that the criminals used to get the on account number and OTP by pretending to send money in PM Jan Dhan Yojana. By installing remote access apps like Team Viewer, Quick Support, and searching for four digits of the mobile number on Google, they would commit crime by adding six digits to the numbers. The SP said that the criminal history of these accused is being ascertained.During interrogation, the accused said that by posing as fake bank officers, they used to cheat people after taking account information from the bank account holders in the name of updating KYC. After sending request in Phone Pe, Paytm, and getting the OTP, they would take money from customers bank account. They also used to trick people by adding their numbers as customer care representatives in Google search engine on phones. The arrested cyber accused include Vikas Kumar Rana, a resident of Damakunda village, Saudagar Rana, Vishal Rana, Govardhan Yadav, Sumit Kumar Rana, Irfan Ansari, Anwar Ansari, Jariya village resident Shriram Yadav, Bablu Mandal, Sarju Yadav and Rohit Yadav.

The SP said that he had received secret information that people associated with cybercrime are active in the area and he directed the cyber police station to take up raids by forming two teams. The two teams conducted separate raids and were successful in arresting the 11 cyber criminals from Damakunda, Jariya and Jamua villages of Sonaraithadhi police station area. The first raiding team was headed by DSP Mangal Singh Jamuda and Inspector Sangeeta Kumari of Cyber ​​Police Station. The second team was headed by Inspector Kalim Ansari of Cyber ​​Police Station and Inspector DN Azad, in-charge of Nagar Police Station. Apart from them, the raiding team included SI Ajay Kumar Yadav, Avinash Gautam, Dhananjay Kumar Singh, Sangeeta Rajwar, PSI Suman Kumar, Shailesh Kumar Pandey, Prem Pradeep Kumar, Rupesh Kumar, Kapil Dev Yadav, Kumar Gaurav, Md Afroz, Gautam Kumar Verma, Swaroop Bhandari, Rajesh Kumar, Pankaj Kumar Nishad, Premsagar Pandit, Policeman Mangal Tudu, Jairam Pandit, Vijay Kumar Mandal, Somlal Murmu, Varun Kumar Darve, Emanuel Marandi and other policemen.
