Jharkhand is going to be equipped with over 16 lakh vaccine doses in the second half of July to carry on the vaccination drive programme against Covid-19 by the centre, the official said on Thursday. The official also added that the vaccine doses will be supplied to the State in six segments. As per the schedule of vaccine supply revealed by the Union Ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW), over 14,66,300 doses of Covishield vaccine and 1,35,100 doses of Covaxin will be handed over to Jharkhand between July 15 and July 29.
The official said the first instalment of 3,16,980 Covishield doses was delivered in the state by airlift on Thursday and later the vaccine doses were distributed among all 24 districts. Official added, after the hush days, Jharkhand boost its vaccination drive process after about 3 lakh doses were furnished to the state earlier this week. As per the government records, the state has been equipped with about 4 lakh doses which are in the stock, enough to carry out the immunization process for about 1 lakh people residents till new stock arrives. As per the centre’s data scheduled, Jharkhand will be provided with at least 2,13,340 Covishield doses and 31,130 Covaxin doses on July 21. On July 24, the state will be delivered with 2,30,430 Covishield doses and 35,570 Covaxin doses. About 2,53,580 Covishield doses will be supplied to Jharkhand the following that day and 4,51,970 Covishield doses will be provided in the state on July 29. The state will also be provided with 68,400 doses of Covaxin on the very day.
Jharkhand’s special officer on duty for Covid-19 vaccination, Naman Priyesh Lakra said, “The vaccination drive will be intensified as we will have enough doses in stock to go all with the campaign if deliveries are made as per the schedule.”
As per the government record, until now, Jharkhand has been supplied about 80 lakh doses of vaccines and inoculated to over 78 lakh residents with Covid jab. Jharkhand is also looking forward to receiving 1,47,740 doses of Covishield on August 4. Although it will be added to the quota for the next month, officially added.
According to the vaccine supply data scheduled by the centre, Jharkhand was reassured to be delivered with 25 lakh doses in July. Though the state was supplied with only 10 lakh doses until Thursday. As per the records with the National Health Mission (NHM), Jharkhand has over 3377 session sites for vaccination and infrastructure to vaccinate around 3 lakh people per day. Consequently, due to the shortage of vaccine doses, almost half of the session sites were unable to provide a covid jab this month.
