Air services are set to start from Deoghar Airport in Jharkhand from November. Initially, three companies will start air services to Ranchi, Kolkata and Delhi. The Airport Authority of India has started negotiations with the aviation companies. Preparations are underway to start air services from Deoghar to Ranchi, Kolkata and Delhi in early stages. In the first phase, companies like Spice Jet, Go Air and Indigo could provide air services. Currently, these companies’ aircrafts are flying to different places from Ranchi.
According to the Airport Authority of India, most of the flights from Ranchi operated by these companies are from Kolkata and Delhi, which can be easily connected to Deoghar. After the first phase of air services to Ranchi, Kolkata and Delhi in November, all other facilities like terminal building will be fully ready by December. As soon as everything is ready, plans to start air services for foreign countries are in the fray by negotiating with other metros and Indian Airlines in the country.
Ranchi Airport Authority of India Director Vinod Kumar Sharma, who is monitoring the work of Deoghar Airport, informed that ATC, Apron and fire stations are ready as per technical requirements to start air services from Deoghar airport to Ranchi, Kolkata and Delhi in November. He added that the first phase of air services will start as soon as technical construction is completed. Flights to Deoghar can be started from other places as soon as other work such as a terminal building is completed. All preparations will be assessed at a meeting of officers of the Airport Authority of India and Civil Aviation in Delhi itself.
