Various start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures are thriving on online business as people are opting to order online sitting in the comfort of their homes. Taking a cue from this, 20-year old Vishwajit Singh started ‘One Touch Book’ for online delivery of essential books in Ranchi. The venture that started last September has home delivered over 70 thousand books so far.
Vishwajit says, “I got the idea of this startup by seeing the crowd in the bookstore in Upper Bazaar. When I was in college, it used to happen that at many times we had to roam around the entire for a book and find that the book is not available. The shopkeepers used to take several days to get it. In such a situation, I started working on the idea of an online bookstore.”
To order a book online, the customer has to fill a form on the website of ‘One Touch Book’. Customers can also order the book through social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, or even Whatsapp. Once the order is confirmed, the book is delivered within an hour in a radius of 15 kms from the main office at Argoda.
Vishwajit is also joined by his friend Saket Bharti, who is the financial backbone of the company. Vishwajeet says that he started the business with mere five thousand rupees. He first created the website with a domain and then contacted all the bookstores of Ranchi to bring them on one platform. This not only helped in finding the availability of the book but also in getting the cheapest price.
He says that initially he and his friend home delivered the books but now his friend Ramnath Munda looks at all the delivery operations. Two other friends, Krishna Mehta and Aman Barniwal are also helping in running the business.
In the past one-year, several accolades have landed in the lap of One Touch Book, including ‘Best Start-Up’ by several reputed institutions.
