Godda MP Nishikant Dubey appeared in the court of Sub-judge Vaishali Srivastava on Saturday as a defendant in the complaint filed by Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. High court advocate Diwakar Upadhyay and Supreme Court advocate Vijay Aggarwal appeared on behalf of Nishikant Dubey. The court has fixed October 9 as the next date of hearing in the case.
At the same time, two other defendants in the case – Twitter and Facebook neither appeared nor did they give any information to the court for the third time. The court had twice ordered social sites Facebook and Twitter, and MP Nishikant, to appear in the court by themselves or through an advocate. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren had filed a complaint on September 11 for objectionable comments on the social sites and has claimed defamation amount of Rs 100 crore each on all the three.
On 22 September and 26 September, Sub-judge Vaishali Srivastava had given time to the three to present their side in the court, but none of the three deemed it necessary to have a party in the court. A third notice was issued by the court on 26 September. Godda MP Nishikant Dubey had made objectionable remarks against CM Hemant Soren on social media. Post this, a complaint was filed by the CM on 11 September.
