Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has received three different e-mails in 12 days threatening to kill him if he does not mend his ways. The same point has been written in all the three e-mails that if he does not mend his ways, the lives of his entire family and colleagues will be under threat. All three e-mail servers are from outside India, hence the Jharkhand police are having difficulty in catching the culprits.
The culprits and their whereabouts have not been ascertained so far. The cyber police, who are investing on the case, have contacted the foreign server contacts via email and asked for the source address and other details regarding the threatening emails, but they have not received any response yet. With the police unable to make any progress, the morale of the culprits is at an all-time high and they have been constantly sending threatening e-mails.
After threats were received, DGP MV Rao, ADG Special Branch Murari Lal Meena and other officials reviewed the security arrangements for the Chief Minister. Thereafter, 30 additional Jawans and five additional officers were deployed for the security of the Chief Minister. The number of security guards has also been beefed up in the Secretariat including the CM house. The officials have been advised not to allow any unknown person to get close to the chief minister and to take immediate action in case there is any suspicious movement.
After the third threatening e-mail was sent to the CM, any attempts made to contact senior Jharkhand police officials have not borne fruit as they have been reluctant to speak anything in this regard. Since the case is associated with the Chief Minister, the officers are only stating that the findings will be made public once a breakthrough is made.
