The opposition is now rallying and committed to stopping the NEET and JEE exams slated to be held from 1st September. On Wednesday, Chief Minister Hemant Soren discussed the issue on video conferencing with Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi. Hemant Soren said that exams for NEET and JEE should be held, but now is not the correct time. He added that the center is probably rushing it and said that the situation is not good with very few centres in Jharkhand. Multiple hotels and buses would be needed to accommodate and engage the students.
The chief minister said that the examination could lead to an increase in the number of patients of Covid-19. The centre should provide more time for conducting the examinations. Talking to Sonia Gandhi and the chief ministers of non-BJP ruled states, the chief minister said that if something goes wrong, the centre will again blame all the states and that all have to raise the issues collectively. He said that the opposition has not been able to do it before as a collective protest. Students would not come alone but with their parents and there will be a huge crowd. He said that all have to raise their voice.
The Chief Minister also interacted with Sonia Gandhi and the chief ministers of other non-BJP ruled states on issues including inflation and unemployment. CM Hemant Soren said that there is resentment among the youth due to unemployment. On the issue of privatisation, he said that the centre has started selling resources also. He also accused the central government of discriminating against non-BJP ruled states and accused the central government of harassing ministers and MLAs from other states. He said that unemployment and inflation, both of which are at a peak in the country, are disturbing the people. He said despite the price rise, the central government is increasing the prices of petrol and diesel. He said that the states should also get the budget from the centre in the corona period.
