Jharkhand State Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation, Mithlesh Thakur inaugurated the Dhobana Harinbahal Bahu Gramin drinking water scheme of Dumka on Sunday. The water supply scheme costs Rs.13.5 crore. Close to 2700 households in 21 villages will get pure drinking water through this scheme through taps. The number of homes is proposed to be 2693 of which 652 have been completed. The scheme was initially launched on 14th June 2018.
Speaking on the occasion, Mithlesh Thakur said that it was a historic day for the village. He said that the government is determined to provide pure drinking water to each household and it is continuously working to complete it. He added that the drinking water supply scheme will provide uninterrupted drinking water supply to 2693 households. This drinking water supply scheme will be maintained by the government for 5 years and people would get pure drinking water for free during this period. Due to non-availability of pure drinking water, people have had to face a lot of health problems and the risk of children and the elderly falling sick also increases. He said that the Government is concerned about every citizen of the state.
The minister said that after the formation of the state, unfortunately, some people have filled their own pockets with the mineral wealth of the state but that will not happen now and the current government will work for people’s benefit in every situation. Adding that the Chief Minister has taken a pledge to improve Jharkhand and is working day and night in this direction, the minister said that they always think of delivering government schemes to every household in the state. He said that all promises made by the Chief Minister to the people of the state will be fulfilled. Minister Mithlesh Thakur said that the officials of the department have been instructed to start the scheme within 15 days and ensure that the benefits reach people. Stating that this was just the beginning, he said that very soon development will be visible in all areas to the common man. Minister Mithlesh Thakur said that the state is also waiting for pending GST amount from the centre which runs in crores, and is causing a lot of difficulties for the state government.
