In the Corona period, criminals have now changed their ways of committing crime. Criminals are resorting to using mobile apps to carry out dacoity and loots. Criminals have now started calling the names of the drivers to stop the passers by on the streets thereby getting their attention and stopping them only to rob them. Criminals have started using mobile apps which provide the name of the owner of the vehicle when the vehicle registration number is entered. They then call out the owner’s name and as soon as the vehicle stops, the criminals commit their crime.
Two types of crime are being committed simultaneously. First via cybercrime, criminals find out the name of the vehicle owners via the app. They then follow the vehicle and wait for a lonely and isolated place or stretch of road with no other vehicles around, which is quite common nowadays with more and more people in their homes and no one getting out. The criminals then stop the vehicle by addressing the owner’s name only to rob those vehicle owners. A few days ago, criminals arrested for looting passers-by in Barwadda area made this disclosure to the Dhanbad police during interrogation. The criminals also told the police the new methods of looting that the gangs are using nowadays. Criminals from Tundi and Giridih are involved in committing these kind of robberies.
Cyber crime occurences have increased manifold in Tundi and Giridih areas. Earlier, criminals used to cut down trees to block roads for looting in the deserted areas of Tundi, but now the methods have changed, now they do their planning before robbery and then get the name of the drivers through the mobile app. They then call out the name and commit the crime.
