Jharkhand is far ahead of the national average in terms of corona testing with 96,315 people being tested for corona infection per 10 lakh of the population in the state. The national average stands at 88,033 per 10 lakh population in the country.
As per the latest State Health Bulletin on 10.11.2020, the total number of active COVID-19 cases in Jharkhand dropped to 4042 while five deaths were reported in the state, taking the toll up to 910. However, the recovery rate, improved as at least 456 patients overcame the virus in 24 hours. As per government data, 99988 have recovered so far, taking the recovery rate up at 95.28% compared to the national rate of 92.64%.
The corona testing in Jharkhand is led by East Singhbhum, Dhanbad, Khunti, Koderma, Pakur, Seraikela Kharsawan and Simdega, where more than 1 lakh people have been tested per 10 lakh population. At the same time, five districts Giridih, Palamu, Ramgarh, Sahibganj and Hazaribagh stand below the national average in testing.
Corona testing rate in Jharkhand was initially low, however, it picked up pace significantly due to an increase in the number of labs and recent rapid antigen tests being conducted. Increasing the speed of testing not only led to timely screening of potential patients, but the infected were also timely admitted to hospitals. While this prevented deaths, the rate of recovery in patients also increased.
