As per the data recapitulated by National Health Mission (NHM) on Monday, around 914 senior citizens including 181 from Ranchi and 129 from Bokaro above the age of 60 were given the first dose of Covishield vaccine in Jharkhand on the first day of vaccination program. At the minimum, 126 people above the age of 45 years and suffering from comorbid diseases also got the vaccine jab in the state on Monday and as many as 44 people were from Bokaro and only 18 from Ranchi.
According to the government data, not even a single senior citizen showed up for vaccination in Khunti district, while at least 11 out of 24 district did not dispense a single middle-aged beneficiary with comorbid conditions. East Singbhum with district headquarters in Jamshedpur gave vaccine to only 33 senior citizens and 3 people above the age of 45 years.
“The government targets to vaccinate at least 37 lakh senior citizens and people with comorbidities in the second phase of vaccination drive in Jharkhand,” said an NHM officer. “The number of senior citizens getting vaccinated daily will gradually increase as more empaneled hospitals start giving the vaccine jabs in the state,” he added.
The vaccination program in Jharkhand was dangled on Saturday and Sunday as the health workers were being trained. On Monday, the state attained only 21 percent of its target for vaccination of healthcare and frontline worker by vaccinating only 3826 out of 18,000 registered beneficiaries.
Ranchi accomplished only 15 percent of its vaccination target of healthcare and frontline worker, while Lohardaga was the worst performer with only 7 percent target attained. Bokaro did the best in vaccinating the health worker and frontline workers. The district inoculated 353 beneficiaries and accomplished the 67 percent of the target.
In most of the hospitals, registration for vaccination of senior citizens and people with comorbidities was done through the Co-Win 2.0 portal, though people also had choice to register in person or over the phone. As per the data, the state has given the first dose of vaccine to 2, 95,242 people and second dose to 27,911 people so far. On Monday, out of 10,257 people, only 4,154 were given the second dose vaccine in Jharkhand. The state has achieved the 81 percent of its target for the first dose of vaccine and 68 percent for the second dose.
A bulletin released by NHM on Monday night stated that 37 people were infected by Covid-19 virus on Monday in Jharkhand and 46 patients were recovered bringing down the numbers of active cases to 485.
