45 girls of Jharkhand were freed from the clutches of human traffickers in Delhi and airlifted to Ranchi on Saturday. Chief Minister Hemant Soren welcomed the girls and he and Rajmahal MP Vijay Hansda took responsibility to bear the expenses of a child of Sundarpahadi who studies in class IX. Chief Minister Mr. Soren spoke about giving 2000 rupees per month to all the girls till they become adults and providing employment to adult girls. The 45 girls who were brought to Ranchi by the Jharkhand government includes girls from Ranchi, Godda, Pakur, West Singhbhum, Dumka, Latehar, Simdega and Gumla, who had been taken to Delhi by human smugglers.
CM Soren said that it is painful to see girls from Jharkhand go to other states and work as babysitters. He added that the government has taken cognizance of this and the girls from the state would be given training for nurses and their skills would be enhanced. The CM said that girls need not worry and that it is the government’s resolve to link the girls trafficked for human trafficking to employment. Work will be done to make these girls self-reliant and the government will take decision according to the wishes of the girls.
CM Soren said that poverty does not see age and the poor struggle right from their birth. This is the reason that children and girls living in remote areas of the state become victims of human trafficking. The victimized girls are forcibly made to work in other states against their will. He said that in such a situation, girls are monitored through many institutions and other means. The government always looks to rescue them. Representatives of various institutions including Rajmahal MP Vijay Hansda, MLA Mathura Mahato, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rajiv Arun Ekka, Principal Secretary Avinash Kumar, Secretary Pooja Singhal, DK Saxena were also present during the Chief Minister’s meeting with 45 girls who arrived in Jharkhand from Delhi.
