Ranchi RPF showed proactive approach and saved 14 girls from human trafficking. The girls were told that they would be trained in sewing and were being taken from Latehar to Hyderabad. RPF suspected all was not fine and questioned the girls and woman accompanying them. The woman has been arrested by the police.
The accused woman Meena had brought these girls from Latehar to Ranchi. They were to be taken from Ranchi to Hyderabad. Suspicion was raised when the Ranchi RPF noticed the 14 girls were seen entering the station. On suspicion, they was questioned by the RPF and the information was given to the ‘Nanhe Farishte’ team and officials. Sub-Inspector Sunita Tirkey’s team and ASI W Khan questioned them. Eight minor girls and six adult girls have been handed over to the police station in-charge, Ranchi, so that further action can be taken.
During interrogation, the girls informed that Meena Devi, aged 25 years, from Chama Nihari of Manika of Latehar was taking them to Hyderabad via train number 07008 for sewing training. When asked about sewing training, Meena Devi could not tell the name of any organization nor could she submit any legal documents for sewing training to the girls. When police contacted the families, they told that they had no information in this regard.
