A new discharge policy has been introduced for corona patients in Jharkhand according to the guidelines given by the Union Health ministry. According to the new discharge policy, asymptotic patients in the Covid Care Centres can now be discharged within 10 days, but they would need to stay in home quarantine for 7 days. If any such patient is discharged, they will not need to go through a covid test before discharge. If the patient develops symptoms post discharge, they can contact the Covid Care Centre or call the state helpline on 1075. The patients will also be checked for their health status for 14 days. NHM Campaign Director Ravi Shankar Shukla has directed all civil surgeons, surveillance officers in the state and the principal and superintendent of Medical Colleges to adhere to the new discharge policy.
According to the new guidelines issued by the health ministry, patients with a few severe symptoms will be kept on oxygen beds at the dedicated Covid Health Centres. Body temperature and oxygen saturation checks will be done for them. If their fever comes down in 3 days and the saturation level is above 95% for the next 4 days, the patient can be released after 10 days. Before they are released, they should not be running a fever, or be suffering from breathing issues. Such patients will not have to undergo testing before discharge.
The patients who are on oxygen support will be discharged only after their clinical symptoms go away. Only patients maintaining oxygen saturation for 3 consecutive days will be discharged. In addition, patients suffering from HIV or other serious ailments will be discharged only after clinical recovery and their reports coming negative in RT-PCR tests.
