Jharkhand received 76% excessive rain in June compared to the normal average rainfall for the month of June.

Indian Meteorological Department said that Jharkhand has received 243.9mm rainfall this year amidst cyclone Yaas between June 1 and June 24, which is 76% more than the normal average rainfall of 138.3mm in the state for the month of June. Jamtara was recorded as the wettest among all 24 districts with 460.5 mm rainfall. All 23 districts received excess rainfall, whereas East Singhbhum was the only district with normal rainfall rate at 270.2mm rain.

As the cyclone Yaas impelled, the rain gathered momentum over the next fortnight, because of which the state received more than normal rainfall.

The IMD on Thursday, issued that light to moderate rain may continue in the state till June 27. They have also forecasted that the showers may continue till the first week of July, with heavy rainfall in isolated places and drizzling and moderate rainfall in most parts of the state.
