Jharkhand government, now concerned with post-Covid afflictions.

Ranchi: As there is a sink in the number of Covid cases and death report, Jharkhand government has now decided to drive the attention into post-covid complications and the reason of the death rate among survivors, official said on Sunday. The official added, the health department administers to all 24 districts that the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) will be reported with the everyday data entries related to health disorders and casualties by the dedicated post-covid care centres.

In a letter, The National Health Mission (NHM) director conveyed to all deputy commissioners recently, asking them to report the records of the number of visits by Covid survivors, number of admitted patients, number of patients receiving physiotherapy or any other therapy, number of patients discharged and the number of casualties at post-covid care centres everyday by 5pm.

According to the recent guidelines from the health department, it is compulsory for the districts to mention the number of patients who were assigned to “higher centres” from the post-covid care centers for better hospitality. Even the patients who does not need to be hospitalized for covid treatment may become infected with severe sickness post-recovery and need medical aid, say doctors. During the first and second wave, many cases of lung fibrosis and cardiovascular disease in covid survivors have also been recorded in the state.

Jharkhand’s nodal officer, Dr Ranjit Mandal, recently appointed said, “So far, no fatalities have been reported at any of the post-covid care centres. We started compiling data related to post-covid complications on Saturday, and that it is too early to draw any inference on the types of health disorders that were most prevalent among Covid survivors in the State.”

The judgement of keeping in updated with the daily entries and treatments at post-covid centres comes close on the heels of the reportage of a new crippling condition called “bone death” among Covid fighter in some parts of India. Some of the Covid survivors in Pune, who were cured with high doses of steroids during their treatment has been accounted with Avascular necrosis, a health complication that results to the death of bone tissues.

Although doctors added, there were no cases of avascular necrosis have been found in Jharkhand yet. The doctors say that in the primeval stage of this condition may seek physiotherapy. Health experts also examining physiotherapy at post-covid centres that possibly able to analyze bone death in patients depending on their symptoms and some tests such as X-Ray.

Meanwhile, Jharkhand is operating post-covid care centres in all 24 districts. Far this year, the cases of Covid-induced murcomycosis or black fungus have been reported at this centre. According to the government data report, until now, 3,46,279 Jharkhand citizens have been infected to SARS-COV-2 virus and more than 98 percent of them have cured.
