The Godda police have succeeded in catching hold of the main accused within 48 hours in the case of rape and murder of a mute-deaf student in the Balbadda police station area of the district. The main accused, 24-year-old Malik Yadav, was arrested on Tuesday morning from Sahibganj. The arrested accused lived near the house of the victim. This has been confirmed by the police inspector of Mehrama, Ramakant Tiwari. The mutilated body of a student was recovered from the high school complex at Khiraundhi in Balbadda police station area on Sunday. The Godda police had assured the villagers, including the families, that the criminals who committed the heinous crime would be arrested within two days. The case was investigated by the dog squad team on Sunday evening. The police then interrogated four suspects in custody but the main accused was still at large. He has also now been caught.
SP YS Ramesh inspected the spot on Monday and indicated that the police had cracked the case. Villagers then expected that the wrongdoer would soon be caught. They also urged the SP that the killers and rapists in the Balbadda case should be sentenced to death within a month by conducting a speed trial as SP Ramesh had got three accused sentenced to death in the case of murder and rape of an innocent in Ramgarh police station area on the same lines. Mahagama MLA Deepika Pandey Singh has written a letter to the CM demanding stringent punishment for rapists by conducting a speed trial. The MLA says that the entire society is hurt with such a heinous crime committed with a deaf teenager.
SP Ramesh met the aggrieved family after inspecting the spot and assured them of justice. The forensic investigation report is said to have found traces of 4 people over the teenager’s body. A thorough investigation has also been initiated by the police. It is feared that the deaf teenager was lured to a secluded room behind the school. She was gang-raped by four criminals there. The teenager could have written the name of all of them, so they brutally murdered her with bricks. The police are pursuing the investigation with forensic investigation reports, mobile locations and investigative dogs. With the arrest of the main accused, it will not take much time for the police to catch the remaining three people. The four suspects who have been taken into custody are now being interrogated.
