E-Gurukul: The Life Changing Platform for Youth of Jharkhand..

Banghali Pujhar, a resident of Dhamnilata village located in Dumka, Jharkhand, is a youth of a commonly vulnerable tribe of the State. He along with his family was living in poverty. His family’s annual income was Rs. 25,000. After completing his high school education, Banghali left school due to the unavailability of resources and also his responsibility toward his family.

In the meantime, he got information about the skill development program and Gurukul started by the then and current Chief Minister Hemant Soren in 2014. He was told that after training in different areas in Gurukul, he will definitely get work. He got admission to Gurukul and did a master in heavy machinery operation and now he is working on Rs 23,000 CTC in NOIDA. Now he is looking after his family and also bearing the expenses of his younger brother. Baghali’s family is very happy these days. Baghali has come to know the benefits of skill developments and now wants to go abroad as a skilled worker. This is just one story, however, there are many other youths like Banghali. E-Gurukul scheme by the Welfare Department of the Government of Jharkhand is changing the economy of rural areas of the state.

The youth of Jharkhand, especially those who are from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Backward Classes are being trained for skilled development and are getting 100% placement. The Jharkhand Government is implementing a scheme to bestow skill training to youth under the e-Gurukul project.

For the successful operation of the scheme, The Department of Welfare is working along with Pan IIT Alumini Reach for India. 23 centers of e-Gurukul are currently running in the State and soon will be expanded to Sahibganj and Lohardaga. Currently, 28 Kalyan Gurukuls, eight Nursing Colleges, and one Culinary and Manufacturing ITI College are also being operated by the Welfare Department, Government of Jharkhand and Pan IIT Alumni Reach for India Foundation.

In many reputed companies of India and abroad, skilled youths of Jharkhand are working and improving the standard of living of their respective families. In this way, the youth of Jharkhand will contribute to the development of the State and with this skilled human resources will also be ready in Jharkhand.

In the year 2021-22, more than 8000 skilled human resources have been demanded from e-Gurukul centers. For this purpose, youth will be given admission in various courses to make them skilled and after the training is done, on the day of passing, an appointment letter will be given.

More than 7000 youths were given training during the financial year 2019-20. Out of which, 2,332 youth are from the minority category, 3,542 from Scheduled Tribe, 226 from Scheduled Caste, 1,019 from OBC, and 75 other categories.

“Our Government is committed to providing employment to the youth of Jharkhand. Necessary measures are being taken to prepare skilled human resources in the State,” Chief Minister Hemant Soren said.
