Dhanbad Sub-Inspector Pankaj Verma is giving free classes to a local girls school.

Jharkhand’s Sub-Inspector Pankaj Verma has a master’s degree in mathematics. This was before he became a cop. In fact, before he joined the force, he took coaching classes in Hazaribagh. After he became an officer, he decided not to give up on teaching altogether. Once a teacher, always a teacher.

As per a report in The New Indian Express, Verma takes some time out from his regular routine to teach at a school. The school is within walking distance from his police station in Dhanbad.

“Teaching at Government Girls High School, Modidih Sijua in Dhanbad, is my hobby. The school is located under the Jogta Police Station where I was recently posted,” he said.

He joined the force in 2019. It was a chance meeting with school principal Satish Singh that led to this happening.

“I found the principal very qualified as well as convincing. But the schools were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” he added. But the schools were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” he added. Singh says that when classes resumed Verma asked if he could teach.

“I readily agreed,” he said. “Since then, he has been coming to the school regularly, whenever he gets time, and shares math tricks with students,” he added.

“Perhaps he can combine the discipline of a police officer with the knowledge that he has. This could be a unique combination,” he went on to say. For Verma, it is a chance to return to his passion. And he is doing a good job too.
