Jharkhand reported 233 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. With this, the total caseload of corona in Jharkhand has reached 1,07,921. Of the 233 new cases, Ranchi reported the highest number of cases at 93, followed by East Singhbhum with 28 and Ramgarh with 27 new cases.
According to the state health bulletin, two more patients succumbed to the infection, pushing the state’s coronavirus death toll to 955. Ranchi and Bokaro districts reported one death each. Jharkhand now has 2,242 active COVID-19 cases, while 1,04,724 people have been cured of the disease so far. In the last 24 hours, 20,205 samples for COVID-19 were tested.
Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the State governments to set up steering committees and block-wise task forces to prepare for the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines as and when they are available for disbursal. He however emphasized that the focus should still be on containing the spread of the virus. Meanwhile, Jharkhand Health Department Principal Secretary in a review meeting today will assess the situation related to the coronavirus vaccine.
