Chief Minister, Wife Test Negative For Covid-19, Recovery Rate In Jharkhand On Downward Spiral.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his wife Mrs Kalpana Soren have both tested negative for coronavirus. Their samples were taken for testing after the Chief Minister had recently come in contact with the Drinking Water & Sanitation Minister Mithilesh Thakur and MLA Mathura Mahato. The chief minister had quarantined himself as a precaution when both the minister and the MLA tested positive for coronavirus.

Samples of the Chief Minister’s press advisor Mr Abhishek Prasad and Senior Emergency Secretary Mr Sunil Srivastava, officers and personnel working in the Chief Minister’s office and police officials posted in Chief Minister’s security were also taken for testing for coronavirus. The reports are expected to be in by Sunday evening.

The Chief Minister said that more and more people should get tested for coronavirus, especially those who show even the slightest symptoms. This would go a long way in controlling the increased risk of infection. It would also help in providing the patients with help at an earlier stage.

993 new corona cases have been reported in the state in the last 10 days. Also, only 293 patients have returned home after having recovered from the infection. This implies that the number of new patients is more than three times the ones recovering. The number of corona infections in the state which on 1st July was 2525 has risen to 3518 on 11th July. All of this has contributed to the recovery rate in the state going down from 76.71 per cent earlier to 63.21 per cent now.
