Cafe La Gravitea, where deaf employees make every sip divine with their smile..

Avinash Dugar, the owner of Cafe La Gravitea had a high-end paid job which he left to open a tea stall. He said that once a young man and his sister visited his stall. Her sister had faced job rejections because of her hearing impairment. And that was the turning point of his business where he decided to start a Cafe where people with hearing impairment could work. And thus came into being Cafe La Gravitea. At present this cafe is being run by 11 employees of which 10 are hearing impaired.

Duggar said that he faced several challenges while communicating with his employees in the beginning, but after six months everything settled down. He learned sign language. The employees use sign language to communicate with each other.

The owner said that Cafe La Gravitea is a go-to place for people in the city. They have more than 120 international varieties of tea along with a welcoming staff to greet and serve.
The cafe received positive responses from the locals as well as prominent personalities like the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jamshedpur.

The Jamshedpur DC, Suraj Kumar said that people have a myth that only physically fit people can work, but the step of Mr. Duggar has changed people’s thoughts about it. The whole of Gravitea employees communicate via sign language, the menu is decided and everything is written due to which no one faces any problem in communication and the cafe runs smoothly.

There is a disability in people’s minds that people with any kind of impairment can’t make their dreams come true but Mr. Duggar has set an example by opening a cafe, Cafe La Gravitea, which is run by hearing-impaired people.
