On November 26, 2024, Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra observed Constitution Day with a solemn and impactful ceremony, paying tribute to the adoption of the Indian Constitution and its pivotal role in shaping the nation’s democratic framework.
The event began with the Preamble Oath-taking ceremony led by Mrs. Nidhi Jaiswal, Assistant Registrar (Legal). In unison, HODs, Deans, faculty members, students, and staff recited the guiding principles’of the Constitution. This was followed by thought-provoking talks, discussions, and presentations that highlighted the Constitution’s values and its relevance in today’s world. Eminent faculty members provided historical insights, emphasizing the Constitution’s role in protecting the rights and freedoms of Indian citizens.
In his inaugural speech, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Indranil Manna stressed the importance of educating the younger generation about the Constitution and its provisions. He encouraged students to actively engage in democratic practices and embody the principles of justice, equality, and fraternity in both personal and professional spheres.
The Guest of Honor, Shri Mukulesh Chandra Naraiyan, OSD (Judicial) to the Governor, delivered a keynote address focusing on fundamental rights and the adoption of the Constitution. He shed light on its unique features and silent provisions, offering a deeper understanding of the document’s significance.
A special Interactive session involved students from all BIT Mesra campuses in discussions about the Constitution’s evolution and its influence on contemporary India. This session created an atmosphere of active learning and respect for the nation’s foundational charter.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sandip Dutta, Registrar of BIT Mesra, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants. The event was anchored by Mrinal Pathak.
