Agreement between MoTA and renowned IT giant Microsoft, can be a game changer for tribal students.

Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) contracted renowned IT giant Microsoft to enable education through digital medium for students from tribal community. This initiative will benefit around 2.5 Lacs of students across 22 states. Microsoft will also support in designing course for Artificial Intelligence (AI) for schools.

Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Mr. Arjun Munda said that through this initiative, students will be provided skill training through digital platforms. He insisted that the tribal students should be prepared to compete at global level and this initiative will prove helpful to achieve that. This will definitely help in empowering students from tribal community, he added.

Microsoft to help create courses for AI, programming and data science.
This agreement has been done in order to maintain continuity of education through digital mediums among students from tribal community in current Covid situation and lockdowns. This will also provide a push to Digital India vision, as per ministry. Microsoft will also help creating courses for Artificial Intelligence along with programming and data science for participating schools.

2.5 lacs tribal students to be benefitted across 22 states.
As per agreement, 2.5 lacs of tribal students will be educated digitally. It is expected to benefit students from class 8th to 12th. This will be implemented in 250 schools across 50 districts of 22 states, which will include Eklavya Model Residential schools, 12 NGO run schools and Government schools running directly under Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA).

5000 teachers will be appointed.
Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Mr. Arjun Munda said that 5000 teachers will be appointed to drive this initiative, who will also be trained on technology by Microsoft. Notably, 500 master trainers will train one lakh teachers to enable a community learning environment.
