Gossner College, Ranchi celebrated 75th Independence day taking all the measures to avoid the COVID transmissions. Flag hoisting ceremony was rendered by the Moderator Rev Johan Dang, who addressed the college as the Chief Guest of this program. He briefed about the struggles and sacrifices of our freedom fighters and soldiers thoroughly. Following this, a two minute silence was held in the loving memory of the founder and principal of Gossner College, Late Nirmal Minz and other faculty members who succumbed during COVID peak namely Dr. Sushil Kerketta, Dr. Dukha Bhagat, Dr. Nilanjan Sil, Mr Sanjay Kumar Tirkey, Dr. Govind Sahu, Dr. R.P. Sahu, Dr. Justin Toppo, Dr. Roxana Toppo, Dr. Janardhan Prasad, Dr. D.K. Shrivastav and Mr. Sunil Thankur.
Dr. Md Yasin, Professor of Urdu department talked about the sacrifices our freedom fighter had made along with insighting the students about the origin and literal meaning of “Saare Jahaan Se Accha”. It was first published in ‘Ittehad (1904)’ as a urdu anthem of the people of Hindustan by Alama Iqbal and it means Better than the entire world.
HOD of maths and Dean of Science Dr. Sitaram Mahto too addressed the students about importance of this day. The events followed by the cultural programme with several groups and solo performances by the students.
Preparation for the 75th Independence Day was executed by the Mass Communication And Video Production department.Vote of thanks was delivered by the NCC head of the college and HOD of Anthropology department, Dr. S.K. Murmu who was hosting the programme. Principal Elani Purti and Bursar Ms. Asha Rani Kerketta, 2nd Bursar Praveen Surin along with teaching and non-teaching staffs were present on the occasion.
