Jharkhand Education Project Council Conducts Survey For Opening Of Schools, 32% Parents Want To Wait For Vaccination Before Schools Open.

On the instructions of the Central Government, Jharkhand Education Project Council sought suggestion from parents over an online medium for whether schools should be opened for classes nine to twelve. Around 12,325 parents gave their suggestions and even now about 32 per cent of the parents are in favour of opening school for students of class nine to twelve only after the vaccination arrives for Covid-19. Only 25.86 per cent of the parents suggested to the state government to go ahead with the opening of schools from this month. At the same time, 14 per cent of the parents left it to the state government to make a decision.

The online survey also included guardians of students of subsidized and private schools in addition to parents of students studying in government schools. Of the total number of parents who provided feedback, seven per cent of the parents suggested to only open schools after 21 days of no new corona cases in the district, 3.84 per cent suggested to open only after 21 days of no new corona cases in the state and 1.94 per cent of the parents suggested to open schools only after 21 days of no new corona cases in the country. Six per cent suggested opening the school in October, three per cent in November and four per cent in December.

At the same time, 82 per cent of parents also suggested reducing the syllabus for this year. Most parents want the syllabus to be reduced by more than 50 per cent.
