The ban on honorarium payment of about 1500 para-teachers of the state has been lifted and the due amount has been paid by the Jharkhand Education Project Council. This includes 453 para-teachers of Chhatarpur and Naudiha blocks of Palamu district.
It was said that due procedure was not followed during the appointment of para-teachers in these two blocks of Palamu district, following which the honorarium payment was stopped. However, after the upliftment of the ban, the para-teachers who are currently in the service have been paid. About 1000 para-teachers across the state have been paid their due honorarium on submission of their certificates.
Apart from this, the process of payment of honorarium to those para-teachers who completed their teacher’s training till March 31, 2019 but were not given the certificate, has also begun.
‘Ekikrit Para Shikshak Sangharsh Morcha’ of Jharkhand had been demanding payment of the outstanding honorarium for a long time. Sanjay Dubey, a member of the Morcha has expressed his gratitude to the government for the payment of the honorarium.
The Jharkhand Education Project Council has also asked for a report from all the districts where para-teachers were not given Tabs and were marked absent during the lockdown. Such teachers were not paid honorarium as their attendance was marked as absent. Schools in the state where the number of children was less than 30 were not given Tabs. The council has sought information about such para-teachers from all districts.
